A leading Retail and fmcg Industry in Dubai UAE is looking for a Food Technologist with the following:
Job Responsibilities
Food Safety Governance & Compliance
- Take full ownership of driving KPI improvements reported in quarterly governance reviews, including customer complaints, store and depot audit scores, supplier performance, and product testing outcomes.
- Ensure end-to-end food safety compliance across retail, FMCG, and hospitality operations in line with M&S policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage Product Process Guidelines (PPGs), cleaning and sanitation programs, and allergen control systems to ensure consistent implementation across all sites.
Regulatory & Labelling Compliance
- Drive food labelling compliance across the market, ensuring alignment with M&S specifications, UAE regulations, and relevant GCC food laws.
- Conduct horizon scanning to identify upcoming or revised food safety regulations and assess their impact on local manufacturing, suppliers, and operations.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of regulatory changes.
Audits, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Support and oversee internal, external, and supplier audits, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
- Proactively identify food safety and quality risks, implementing robust mitigation strategies to protect brand integrity and consumer safety.
- Work closely with Technical Services Leads (TSL) and other Food Technologists to ensure all facilities meet M&S global standards and local food safety legislation.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee operational processes to ensure compliance with in-country food safety regulations, GMP, HACCP, and international best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety performance, operational efficiency, and quality outcomes across the business.
Food Technologist – Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- 4–5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or compliance within retail, hospitality, or FMCG sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of UAE food safety regulations, M&S standards, and international food safety frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with audits, compliance management, supplier approval, and regulatory liaison.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex compliance requirements across multiple sites and stakeholders.
