Biotechnologist – Internship opportunity with a leading FMCG Division in Bengaluru, India. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on laboratory and production experience in a live craft brewery environment, where science meets creativity.
Responsibilities
As an Biotechnologist – Internship , you will work alongside experienced brewers and quality professionals to:
- Assist in microbiological testing of beer, yeast cultures, and raw materials to ensure quality and consistency.
- Support hygiene monitoring, environmental sampling, and lab-based analysis of brewing processes.
- Learn essential techniques in fermentation monitoring, yeast propagation, and contamination control.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test results, and documentation in compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in daily quality checks and assist in continuous improvement initiatives within the brewery.
- Assist the Quality and Brewing team in performing microbiological analysis of beer, yeast, water, and raw materials to ensure all products meet the company’s quality and safety standards.
- Conduct routine hygiene monitoring in production and packaging areas, including environmental sampling, surface swabs, and air quality checks to maintain a contamination-free environment.
- Support in fermentation monitoring, including measuring pH, gravity, alcohol content, and cell counts to track yeast performance and fermentation progress.
- Participate in yeast management activities, such as yeast propagation, harvesting, washing, and pitching, ensuring optimal yeast health and activity.
- Assist in identifying and controlling microbial contamination through aseptic sampling, plating, and microscopic examination techniques.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test logs, and data sheets in compliance with quality assurance protocols and documentation standards.
Help prepare and sterilize media, glassware, and equipment for microbiological testing and ensure proper lab housekeeping and equipment calibration.
Collaborate with the brewing team to analyze process deviations and suggest improvements for maintaining consistency and product quality.
Participate in quality control checks of raw materials, wort, beer, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
Support in implementing Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the brewery’s quality control operations.
Skills – Biotechnologist Internship
Contribute to research and data collection for ongoing process improvement and innovation in brewing techniques.Work under the guidance of senior microbiologists and brewers to understand the scientific and technical aspects of fermentation and beer production.
Assist in preparing weekly reports and presentations summarizing lab findings, microbial trends, and corrective actions taken.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and brewery tours to gain a holistic understanding of the end-to-end brewing process.

- Educational Background: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry (final-year students or recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
