A sustainable food and alternative proteins organisation in Mumbai, India, is looking for Associates with Biotechnology expertise and the following:

Job Responsibilities

1. Stakeholder Management and Process Optimization

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all incoming queries to the Science and Technology department, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  • Design, automate, and streamline processes to improve query handling and stakeholder interaction.
  • Support the Science and Tech team in planning and executing stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, research collaborations, and follow-ups.
  • Compile and maintain detailed records, reports, and strategic documents for academic and research-related initiatives.

2. Community Building and Academic Engagement

  • Expand and strengthen the GFIdeas India community, fostering relationships with universities, researchers, and innovators across India.
  • Organize academic networking events, workshops, and outreach sessions to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange.
  • Maintain and update stakeholder databases using platforms like Salesforce, ensuring accurate documentation of community interactions.
  • Manage Science and Tech-related social media content, acting as the community manager for GFIdeas India to enhance online engagement and visibility.
  • Conceptualize, draft, and circulate scientific newsletters, deep-dive publications, and other knowledge-sharing materials to support the community.

3. Webinars and International Collaboration

  • Design and host webinars and virtual sessions highlighting Indian researchers, start-ups, and innovators in the smart protein ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with global GFI affiliates to conduct joint events that promote cross-border scientific partnerships and innovation exchange.
  • Facilitate scientific discussions, panel sessions, and technical talks that promote the advancement of sustainable food technology in India.
  • Lead educational initiatives by co-developing smart protein curriculum modules, electives, and short courses in collaboration with universities.
  • Oversee university outreach programs such as the Smart Protein Project—managing mentorship programs, growth strategies, and academic collaborations.
  • Plan and execute talent development events at universities and during major forums like the Smart Protein Forum and ISPIC.
  • Build partnerships with educational institutions to enhance student participation in research, innovation, and sustainable food technology.

5. Scientific Research and Resource Development

  • Conduct secondary research and scientific writing to support GFI India’s analytical work and create science-based reference materials.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of scientific resources, primers, and whitepapers for internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Policy, Industry, Communications) to produce educational content tailored for students, researchers, and government stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of talent development resources and collaborate with global GFI partners to improve scientific capacity-building initiatives.

6. Operational Excellence and Reporting

  • Ensure all Science and Tech projects are delivered on schedule, with accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to uphold all HR and administrative procedures.
  • Apply strong data management, process optimization, and analytical skills to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the Science and Technology department’s goals.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific disciplines such as Food Science, Food Technology, or Microbiology.
  • A Master’s or advanced degree in a relevant field will be considered an advantage.
  • Up to two years of professional experience in biotechnology, bioprocessing, or related scientific research or academic coordination.
  • Understanding of bioprocess technology, cell biology, or biochemistry principles and laboratory practices.
  • Strong experience in handling scientific data, report writing, and research documentation.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with scientific literature review, data analysis, and content creation.
  • Experience in academic engagement, university outreach, or curriculum support is desirable.
  • Knowledge of community management tools and platforms such as LinkedIn, Slack, and MailChimp.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
