Biochemistry Technician
seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Biochemistry Technician to join a dynamic team across clinical diagnostic laboratories in the UAE. As a Biochemistry Technician, you will be responsible for performing high-quality biochemical testing and analysis on patient samples in a timely and accurate manner. Job Responsibilities
Sample Processing & Analysis
Receive, label, and process clinical samples (blood, serum, plasma, urine) for routine and specialized biochemical testing.
Conduct biochemical assays including liver function tests, renal profiles, lipid panels, glucose monitoring, electrolytes, and hormone analysis using automated analyzers.
Instrument Operation & Maintenance
Operate, monitor, and perform calibration and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment including autoanalyzers, centrifuges, and spectrophotometers.
Troubleshoot minor instrument issues and report malfunctions to service engineers or supervisors.
Quality Control & Compliance
Perform and document internal quality control (IQC) procedures; participate in external quality assessment (EQA) programs to maintain testing accuracy.
Follow laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with ISO 15189 standards and local health authority regulations (DHA, DOH, MOH).
Data Management & Reporting
Accurately record, validate, and verify test results using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Ensure timely generation and delivery of patient reports while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
Safety, Hygiene & Inventory
Comply with biosafety and infection control protocols for the safe handling of biological samples and reagents.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory bench area.
Monitor stock levels of consumables and reagents, and report shortages to the lab manager.
Team Support & Continuous Improvement
Work collaboratively with pathologists, laboratory technologists, and quality officers to ensure smooth workflow.
Assist in training new staff or interns and participate in audits, inspections, and process improvement initiatives.
Job Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field in Life Sciences.
Experience:
0–3 years of relevant experience in a clinical, hospital, or diagnostic laboratory setting (internship or training program experience considered).
Technical Competencies:
Solid understanding of clinical biochemistry testing principles and methodologies.
Hands-on experience with laboratory analyzers such as Cobas, Hitachi, Beckman Coulter, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with LIMS and Microsoft Office applications.
Basic knowledge of ISO 15189 standards, GLP, and CAP-accredited environments is an advantage.
Licensing:
DHA, DOH, or MOH license or eligibility is preferred. Candidates without current licensure should be willing to apply.
