A University in Abu Dhabi UAE is looking for an Assistant Professor in Food Safety with the following:
Job Responsibilities
Teaching and Education
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in food safety, food microbiology, food inspection, food safety management, HACCP, and related fields.
- Develop and deliver course content using contemporary methods such as molecular/genomic techniques and data analytics.
- Contribute to curriculum development, integrating the latest research findings and case studies.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in food safety and risk assessment research.
Research and Scholarly Activity
- Establish an independent, externally-funded research program in food safety science and quantitative food risk assessment.
- Develop innovative methods as Assistant Professor Food Safety for assessing and mitigating risks in food production, processing, and distribution.
- Conduct research in areas such as predictive microbiology, microbial hazard detection, and interventions for food safety.
- Secure external funding and collaborate with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions.
- Publish research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present at international scientific conferences.
Service and Outreach
- Participate in university service activities, including departmental and institutional committees.
- Engage with professional societies, conferences, and editorial boards of scientific journals.
- Provide expertise to the food industry, regulatory bodies, and community outreach programs on food safety and compliance.

Job Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Safety, Food Microbiology, or a closely related discipline.
- Expertise: Proven knowledge in food safety, risk assessment, microbial risk analysis, food toxicology, epidemiology of foodborne diseases, novel detection methods, hazard analysis, predictive microbiology, or microbial ecology.
- Research Productivity: Strong record of peer-reviewed publications with a high Scopus h-index in relevant research areas.Assistant Professor Food Safety
- Teaching Ability: Demonstrated potential or experience in teaching university-level courses in food safety-related subjects.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication in English, with strong interpersonal abilities.

- Postdoctoral/Professional Experience:
- Assistant Professor applicants: Postdoctoral research experience from a reputable institution.
- Associate Professor applicants: Established independent research and success in obtaining research grants.
- Teaching Experience: Prior university-level teaching experience in food safety, microbiology, food inspection, HACCP, or related fields.
- Grant Acquisition: Proven track record of securing external research funding.
- Industry & Regulatory Engagement: Experience collaborating with the food industry, regulatory bodies, or public health agencies.
