The Senior Chemist will be responsible for leading and supervising chemical testing activities across multiple laboratory disciplines. The role involves ensuring accurate analysis, compliance with international standards, and continuous improvement of laboratory processes. The candidate will work closely with laboratory technicians, quality teams, and management to deliver reliable and timely testing services to clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, perform, review, and validate complex chemical analyses related to material testing, environmental samples, calibration activities, and metallurgical testing.
- Oversee routine and non-routine testing in accordance with approved methods, standard operating procedures, and international standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.
- Supervise and mentor junior chemists and laboratory technicians, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and technical requirements.
- Interpret test results, investigate deviations or non-conformities, and prepare detailed technical reports for clients and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and performance verification of laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
- Coordinate with microbiology, environmental, and materials testing teams to support integrated testing projects and multidisciplinary studies.
- Implement and maintain laboratory quality management systems, including method validation, uncertainty calculations, and proficiency testing participation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the laboratory at all times.
- Support audits, inspections, and accreditation activities by providing technical documentation and corrective action plans when required.
- Stay updated with new analytical techniques, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to enhance laboratory capabilities.
