Internship in Food Safety opportunity with a leading Hotel and Hospitality Industry in Dubai, UAE. Food Safety Intern or Food Safety Trainee will work closely with the Food Safety and Hygiene team to support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of food safety and hygiene standards across all hotel food operations. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real-world food safety practices within a luxury hospitality environment, providing valuable learning opportunities aligned with international food safety regulations and local authority requirements.
Job Responsibilities – Internship in Food Safety
- Support the Food Safety and Hygiene team in conducting daily hygiene inspections across all Food & Beverage outlets, kitchens, stores, and production areas.
- Monitor and promote personal hygiene, grooming, and safe food handling practices among food handling colleagues in accordance with hotel standards and food safety guidelines.
- Assist in verifying that all incoming food deliveries comply with quality specifications, temperature control, expiry dates, and labelling requirements.
- Help maintain, organize, and update food safety documentation, including hygiene checklists, monitoring logs, corrective action reports, and training records.
- Coordinate with third-party accredited laboratories to arrange food, water, and surface sampling as per the food safety monitoring plan.
- Assist in sample collection, documentation, and follow-up on laboratory test results, reporting any deviations to the Food Safety team.
- Observe daily operations and identify non-compliances related to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation, and report findings for corrective and preventive actions.
- Support pest management activities, including inspections, service follow-ups, and coordination with relevant departments to close corrective actions.
- Assist in monitoring cleaning and sanitizing procedures, chemical usage, and adherence to approved cleaning schedules across all Food & Beverage areas.
- Participate in internal audits, food safety training sessions, and awareness programmes as required.
Job Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues across multiple departments.
- Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate diploma in Food Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline (mandatory).
- Basic knowledge of food safety principles, hygiene practices, and HACCP concepts.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Willingness to learn, observe, and work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
