A Laboratory group in Dubai, UAE is looking for a Senior Microbiologist – Food and Water with the following:

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of water samples to accurately detect and quantify microbial contaminants.
  • Utilize various microbiological techniques, including culture-based methods and kit tests, to identify and characterize microorganisms in water samples.
  • Strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for water sample collection, processing, and analysis to ensure consistent and reliable results.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting microbiological findings, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address food safety and quality concerns related to water sources, providing expert insights.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Stay updated on advancements in food microbiology and water analysis techniques through continuous professional development.
  • Apply food microbiology principles to assess the impact of waterborne pathogens on food safety and quality.
  • Perform microbiological testing of food samples, including microbial enumeration and pathogen detection, to meet safety standards.
  • Evaluate the microbiological quality of ingredients, finished products, and environmental samples to identify potential contamination sources.
  • Prepare and maintain microbiological media, ensuring proper preparation, sterilization, and storage.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of laboratory supplies and reagents to ensure sufficient inventory for testing.
  • Update and maintain documentation related to internal quality control (IQC) procedures, including calibration records, proficiency testing, and equipment maintenance schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in food microbiology, with a focus on water analysis.
  • Proficiency in various microbiological techniques, including microbial culturing and sequencing, with ISO:17025 certification.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex scientific concepts effectively.
  • Strong team player with proven collaboration skills, able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to water quality testing and food safety.
