Pepsico Careers, Dammam, Saudi Arabia is hiring a Lab Food Chemist with the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Daily Analysis: Conduct daily analysis on finished products, and incoming raw and packaging materials, ensuring that only conforming Finished Goods, Raw Materials, and Packaging Materials (FGRMPM).
- Regulatory Compliance: Participate in inspection visits by regulatory authorities, address issues, and support the resolution of concerns.
- GMP Compliance: Ensure that plant personnel follow good manufacturing practices (GMP) and raise relevant issues during shifts.
- Food Safety Audits: Participate in monthly food safety audits, support the implementation of food safety standards, and audit findings.
- Safety Requirements: Adhere to and support the implementation of safety requirements, including Near Miss reporting, chemical management, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
- Laboratory Safety: Maintain a safe working environment in laboratories by following Safe Working Procedures (SWPs). Ensure high housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles.
- Sensory Evaluation: Participate in sensory evaluation tests during shifts, reviewing product and packaging performance, and addressing any issues arising from previous evaluations.
- Production Monitoring: Monitor production operators’ product analysis and evaluation in both process and packaging, taking corrective action if necessary, and recording results in the Statistical Process Control (SPC) sheet.
- Communication and Reporting: Communicate acceptance and rejection results of RMPM to concerned functions, issue reports, and ensure timely decision-making through SAP.
- Non-compliance Action: Take immediate action on any non-compliance noticed during analysis and line monitoring, including initiating Hold/Release procedures and coordinating with team leaders for corrective actions.
- Market Evaluation: Conduct market evaluations of finished products, including Customer Quality Assurance (CQA) and Product Quality Monitoring (PQM) samples.

- Proficiency Tests: Participate in internal and external proficiency tests to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Complaint Investigation: Participate in the investigation of complaints and follow up on corrective actions.
- Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in good working condition, ensuring safety requirements are met and lab instruments are properly calibrated.
- Developmental Projects: Support and participate in developmental activities and projects relevant to the function.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Train colleagues and disseminate knowledge gained from internal and external training sessions.
- Quality and Warehouse Concerns: Verify production and warehouse quality concerns, communicate results, and manage shift activities independently.
- OH&S Management: Implement, sustain, and participate in the continual improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System in compliance with legislation, PepsiCo GEHSMS, and relevant EHS standards.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Food Science (preferred).
- Language Skills: Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience: Recent graduates may apply, but preference is given to experienced chemists with knowledge of modern lab instruments and quality system. Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025in a food manufacturing environment.
