Dubai Municipality is hiring a Food Safety Officer with the following in Dubai, UAE location:
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct Pre-Operational Inspections: Implement comprehensive food inspection programs for food establishments before they begin their operations. Ensure that these establishments meet all food safety standards and regulations prior to commencing their activities.
- Ongoing Food Establishment Inspections: Regularly inspect permanent food establishments to monitor the safety and quality of the food being handled and served. Ensure that all food products are stored, prepared, and presented according to safety regulations.
- Food Transportation Inspection: Carry out inspections of food transport vehicles utilized by food establishments to ensure that both the vehicles and the workers are compliant with health and safety standards. Verify that the vehicles are maintained in a sanitary condition and that the workers are free from any contagious diseases.
- Food Product Registration: Register all categories of packaged and traded food products in the food establishments under your jurisdiction within the Emirate of Dubai. This includes maintaining detailed records as part of the food registration, classification, and evaluation program.
- Visual Inspection of Imported Food Items: Perform visual inspections of all imported food items listed on the container’s packing list to verify that they meet the approved food safety standards for distribution and sale within the state.
- Laboratory Testing and Sampling: Identify specific food items that require laboratory testing based on a risk assessment system. Prepare and submit sampling forms for these items to ensure they undergo the necessary laboratory evaluations to confirm their safety and compliance with food safety regulations.
Job Qualifications
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline is required.
- Relevant Experience: Previous experience in food safety, public health, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Standards: Familiarity with local and international food safety regulations and standards.
- Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills to identify potential food safety hazards.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with food establishment personnel and regulatory authorities.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Capable of addressing and resolving food safety issues that may arise during inspections.
- UAE Nationality preferred.
