An organic Fresh Produce Company in Alaska, US is hiring a Food Safety Manager with the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures highly disciplined compliance with all regulatory and company-defined food safety and sanitation standards, systems, procedures, and practices to ensure that we receive, store, and distribute safe quality products by Food Safety Manager – Organic.
- Responsible for correct product ingredient information and for communicating product information to vendors and customers.
- Conducts investigations for out of compliance issues and customer complaints, makes recommendations to resolve these instances, and completes corrective actions (when applicable), including a trend analysis report.
- Records distressed products and assists with the return process if needed.
- Asset management and purchasing for safety and departmental needs, including but not limited to PPE for all departments that engage with food.
- Develops, implements, and sustains new methods and procedures to drive improvements in food safety and quality. Including but not limited to any food safety and food quality SOP review, creation, and rollout by Food Safety Manager Organic.
Food Safety Manager -Organic
- Current FISMA, and HACCP knowledge and capability to review active plans, revise when necessary, control, and document processes and procedures consistent with FDA’s guidelines.
- Be able to provide quality instruction and support for implementing and managing the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System, PrimusGFS, and Organic Certification requirements.
- Interacts with Regulatory Agencies and Third Party Food Safety Auditors.
- Monitoring, documenting, and reporting to measure compliance with company standards.
- Conduct internal audits and self-inspections of all facilities producing Organic Foods.
- Works with operations and other team members to ensure warehouse activities pass our food safety and sanitation requirements.
- Conducts training for various departments such as management, warehouse, repack, sanitation, transportation, etc.
- Manages critical food safety programs such as the Sanitation program, Chemical Control Program, Maintenance Program, etc.
- Strives for continuous improvement of the food safety and quality system at Charlie’s Produce
- Maintains a clear and open partnership by frequently corresponding with the processing group, human resources, management group, and kitchen group.
Job Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in food safety administration, management, or coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience with food safety (GAP, GMP, HAACP, FISMA, and SOPs) and produce practices.
- Advanced MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and pressure and to stay organized and focused during heavy volume times.
- Must be able to assist a diverse work force and communicate clearly with all levels of English speakers.
- Ability to observe and follow proper safety procedures, and a willingness to correct potentially unsafe conditions.
- Worker safety (state labor laws and OSHA) preferred.
