The number of illnesses linked to Diamond Shruumz microdosing candy has more than doubled. Since an outbreak was announced last week. Despite the growing number of cases, the company behind the products has refused to issue a recall.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a public warning about products sold under the Diamond Shruumz brand. This include gummies, cones, and chocolate bars. These products are available online and at various retail stores. Including smoke/vape shops and retailers selling hemp-derived products like cannabidiol (CBD) or delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-8 THC). The FDA has urged people not to purchase or consume any flavor of Diamond Shruumz-brand chocolate bars, cones, or gummies from any retail or online locations.
As of June 18, 26 patients from 16 states have been identified. Sixteen of these individuals have required hospitalization. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the reported symptoms include seizures, decreased level of consciousness, respiratory failure, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hallucinations, uncontrolled movements, abnormal heart rate (either too fast or too slow), high or low blood pressure, excessive sweating or secretion, and flushed skin.
The FDA has contacted the firm about a potential voluntary recall, but these discussions are still ongoing. The company has so far refused to issue a recall, raising significant concerns about consumer safety.
The public is advised to remain vigilant and avoid consuming Diamond Shruumz products. This situation highlights the importance of regulatory oversight and the need for companies to prioritize consumer health and safety. If you or someone you know has purchased these products, it is crucial to heed the FDA’s warning and refrain from consuming them to prevent potential health risks.
