Seeking an experienced Quality and Hygiene Manager to lead and manage food safety, hygiene, and quality assurance standards across a large retail hypermarket chain in Bahrain. The role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving quality management systems, food safety programs, and hygiene standards across multiple stores to ensure full compliance with local regulatory requirements, international food safety standards, and company policies.

The ideal candidate will play a strategic and operational role in maintaining high-quality retail food operations while promoting a strong food safety culture across all hypermarket locations.

Job Responsibilities

Quality & Food Safety Management

  • Analyze existing quality and food safety systems and implement continuous improvement initiatives across all retail stores.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal quality assurance and hygiene procedures in line with HACCP and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Bahrain health authorities, food safety regulations, and international best practices.
  • Monitor and control the storage, handling, and display of fresh, chilled, frozen, and dry food products according to approved standards and SOPs.

Hygiene & Compliance Monitoring

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure food storage and handling practices meet health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor compliance with temperature controls, sanitation programs, pest control measures, and waste management procedures.
  • Report non-conformities, food safety risks, and hygiene issues with clear corrective and preventive action plans.

Training & Awareness

  • Implement food safety, hygiene, and waste-handling training programs for all food-handling and operational staff.
  • Promote food safety awareness and a strong hygiene culture across hypermarket operations.
  • Ensure training records and certification compliance are maintained and audit-ready.

Audit & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement corrective actions arising from internal audits, external audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Track audit findings, verify corrective action effectiveness, and reduce repeat non-conformities.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.

Regulatory & Industry Updates

  • Research, monitor, and maintain records of changes in bahrain foodsafety
  • regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure timely updates to internal procedures based on regulatory or compliance changes.
  • Food safety and hygiene compliance score across retail stores
  • Reduction in non-conformities and repeat audit findings
  • Audit closure rate within agreed timelines
  • Staff training and food safety certification compliance rate
  • Compliance with fresh food storage and handling standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in quality and hygiene management within a regulated retail or food environment
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety management systems
  • ISO Lead Auditor (ISO 22000 / ISO 9001)
  • HACCP Certification
  • Six Sigma / Lean Six Sigma
  • Other recognized food safety or quality management certifications.
