Quality Control (QC) Executive wanted in leading Flavours Industry in Kochi- Kerala, with hands-on laboratory and process monitoring experience in the flavours and food ingredients industry. The role focuses on ensuring the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of oleoresins, essential oils, spice extracts, and natural food colours through systematic testing, documentation, and adherence to national and international quality standards.

This position is ideal for candidates with a strong analytical background who are detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high quality standards in food ingredient manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform raw material, in-process, and finished product testing for oleoresins, essential oils, spice extracts, and natural food colours
  • Conduct physical, chemical, and sensory analysis, including:
    • Moisture content
    • Colour value
    • Solubility
    • Refractive index
    • Specific gravity
    • Acid value and other relevant parameters
  • Operate and interpret results from analytical instruments such as:
    • Gas Chromatography (GC)
    • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
    • UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
    • Titration and wet chemistry methods
  • Ensure full compliance with FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, GMP, and customer-specific quality requirements
  • Verify adherence to approved specifications, SOPs, and quality standards across all production stages
  • Monitor critical control points and identify quality risks during manufacturing.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date QC documentation, including:
    • Certificates of Analysis (COA)
    • Batch manufacturing and test records
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Instrument calibration and validation logs
  • Report deviations, non-conformances, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) in a timely manner
  • Regularly monitor production processes and ensure quality clearance before dispatch
  • Coordinate with Production, R&D, and Dispatch teams for sampling, approvals, and product release
  • Ensure proper sampling, labeling, storage, and retention of samples as per quality protocols.

Audits

  • Assist in internal audits, external audits, and customer inspections
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory practices, quality systems, and process efficiency
  • Follow safety, hygiene, and good laboratory practices (GLP) at all times

Job Qualifications

  • B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry, Food Technology, or Biochemistry
  • B.Tech / M.Tech in Food Technology or Chemical Engineering
  • 1–4 years of experience in Quality Control
  • Industry experience in oleoresins, essential oils, spice extracts, food ingredients, or natural food colours is highly preferred.
  • Freshers with strong analytical and laboratory knowledge may be considered (if applicable)
  • Strong knowledge of analytical instruments and laboratory testing methods
  • Sound understanding of food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance
  • High attention to detail with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Willingness to work in shifts, if required
  • Basic computer proficiency in MS Excel, report preparation, and email communication.
