Retail Supermarket Chain in Sharjah, UAE is looking for a Hygiene Officer Coordinator for their Food Trading with the following:

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor Hygiene Compliance:
  Oversee the implementation of food hygiene and sanitation protocols in all supermarket departments, including fresh produce, meat, bakery, and grocery sections, ensuring full compliance with HACCP Level 3 standards and UAE Municipality regulations.
• Conduct Inspections & Audits:
  Carry out regular hygiene inspections across retail stores and storage areas. Identify non-conformities, document findings, and coordinate corrective actions to maintain high hygiene and safety levels.
• Food Handling & Storage:
  Ensure that all food items—especially perishable groceries—are stored, displayed, and handled in compliance with ISO 22000 and HACCP principles, minimizing risks of contamination.

• Employee Training:
  Conduct regular staff training sessions on Level 3 Food Hygiene practices, personal hygiene, cleaning procedures, and food handling safety for retail and online grocery operations.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  Maintain accurate records of hygiene checklists, pest control activities, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules. Prepare hygiene performance reports and share updates with management for continuous improvement.

Hygiene Officer – Retail Supermarket Chain

• Coordinate with Management:
  Work closely with the retail management team to implement and monitor food hygiene policies, ensuring consistency across all branches and departments.
• Support Online Grocery Operations:
  Ensure that the hygiene protocols for online grocery packing, handling, and delivery are maintained according to food safety standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and safe deliveries.
• Supplier Hygiene Compliance:
  Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams to verify that food items delivered to the supermarket meet quality and hygiene requirements.
• Cleaning and Disinfection Oversight:
  Supervise the cleaning staff to ensure daily and deep-cleaning activities are carried out as per set hygiene schedules and product category requirements.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Stay updated on the latest developments in the retail industry and food hygiene regulations. Recommend process improvements to enhance food safety and operational efficiency in the supermarket chain.

Job Qualifications

• Educational Background:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Nutrition, or a related field.
• Experience:
  Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Hygiene Officer or Food Safety Coordinator within the retail supermarket, grocery, or food trading industry in the UAE or GCC region.
• Certifications:
  • HACCP Level 3 Certification (mandatory)
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (mandatory)
  • Knowledge of ISO 22000, GHP, and GMP standards is a plus.

• Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of retail food safety standards, hygiene audits, and risk assessment methods.
  • Ability to manage hygiene programs for both in-store and online grocery operations.
  • Skilled in using digital checklists and reporting tools for hygiene tracking.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Proactive in identifying potential hygiene risks and implementing preventive measures.
  • Capable of training and motivating staff on hygiene awareness and compliance.
