A leading FMCG Compnay in Kochi, Kerala is looking for a Quality Control Manager with the following:

Job Resposnibilites

  1. Developing & Implementing Quality Standards
    • Establish, implement, and continuously improve in-house quality control systems, SOPs, and inspection protocols to meet seafood industry requirements.
    • Ensure all production stages—from raw fish handling to packaging—meet international quality benchmarks.
  2. Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure full compliance with FSSAI, ISI, EIA, and MPEDA regulations and certifications relevant to seafood exports and domestic markets.
    • Prepare and maintain documentation required for audits, inspections, and certifications.
  3. Audits & Inspections
    • Conduct regular internal audits across plants, branches, and supplier facilities to verify compliance with quality and food safety standards.
    • Oversee external and third-party audits, including preparation of reports and corrective actions.
  4. Customer Complaint Management
    • Investigate and address customer complaints regarding product quality, safety, or consistency.
    • Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  5. Label & Product Compliance
    • Oversee accurate labeling of seafood products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
    • Supervise raw material inspections, lab analysis, and product release procedures.
  6. FSSAI Licensing & Renewals
    • Manage FSSAI-related licensing processes, timely renewals, and annual returns to avoid any regulatory lapses.
  7. HACCP & Food Safety
    • Lead the development and maintenance of HACCP plans and ensure continuous staff training on food safety protocols.
    • Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and hygiene standards across all operations.
  8. Equipment Calibration & Lab Supervision
    • Ensure regular calibration of all laboratory and production equipment for precise quality testing.
    • Coordinate with labs for microbiological, chemical, and organoleptic testing of seafood products.
  9. Product Safety & Continuous Improvement
    • Promote a culture of safe, compliant, and high-quality production practices across all departments.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement new quality initiatives to enhance product standards.

Job Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Fisheries Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • Industry Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in quality control/assurance within the seafood industry, specifically dealing with fish processing and export requirements.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of FSSAI, EIA, MPEDA, ISI guidelines and seafood export documentation.
    • Expertise in implementing and maintaining HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000 standards.
    • Experience in managing internal audits, external audits, and third-party testing.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in seafood processing.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Proficiency in maintaining quality documentation and reports.
    • Ability to lead a team, conduct staff training, and ensure compliance across all units.
    • Good communication skills for collaborating with regulatory bodies, suppliers, and customers.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product integrity.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced seafood processing environment.
    • Willingness to conduct field visits to suppliers, plants, and branches as required.
