Vacancy for a detail-oriented Retail Food Quality Control Officer to oversee food safety and quality compliance in a retail supermarket environment in Ajman. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, monitoring food handling practices, and ensuring adherence to hygiene and regulatory standards across all fresh food sections.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming food items such as meat, fish, dairy products, vegetables, and baked goods to ensure they meet quality specifications and health safety standards.
  • Continuously monitor storage conditions including temperature and humidity across cold storage areas, such as chillers, freezers, and display units, to ensure optimal food preservation.
  • Perform routine hygiene audits in fresh food sections including butchery, fish counter, deli, bakery, and produce areas.
  • Verify product shelf life by checking expiry dates, and ensure removal of expired, damaged, or spoiled items in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure accurate food labeling, including product name, production/expiry date, batch code, pricing, and allergen information.
  • Supervise the cleaning and sanitization procedures for food preparation areas, storage units, and equipment, as per the sanitation schedule.
  • Immediately report any deviations in food quality, potential contamination risks, or signs of pest activity to the relevant departments.
  • Provide on-the-job training to staff on food safety practices, personal hygiene protocols, and proper handling of perishable goods.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date records of inspections, non-compliance reports, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules, in line with internal policies and UAE regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing teams to report, document, and return non-compliant, expired, or damaged stock items.

Job Qualifications

  • A Quality Controller education typically requires a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in food quality control or food safety, preferably in a retail, supermarket, or hypermarket environment.
  • Solid understanding of HACCP principles, food hygiene regulations, and UAE Municipality guidelines.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for inspection reporting, data entry, and document management.
  • Strong observational skills, high attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
