Halal and Food Safety Compliance Specialist vacancy at a leading Airlines company in Dubai UAE

Job Responsibilities

  • Annual Audit Planning & Execution:
    Schedule, plan, and implement a comprehensive annual audit programme to assess food safety and Halal compliance of designated Emirates F&B partners worldwide. This involves extensive overseas travel and on-site inspections to ensure partners meet Emirates’ strict requirements.
  • Conduct Independent Audits:
    Perform thorough, impartial food safety and Halal compliance audits in line with globally recognised auditing standards and practices. Document findings and report non-conformities, ensuring partners take timely corrective action.
  • Standards & Manuals Development:
    Develop, review, and update Emirates’ food safety and Halal compliance manuals to reflect the latest international best practices and regulatory requirements. Ensure all stakeholders have access to current standards and procedures.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Deliver clear, informative presentations to key internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on global and country-specific food safety legislation and emerging industry trends.

  • Supplier Self-Assessment:
    Design, maintain, and manage Emirates’ supplier self-assessment questionnaire aligned with HACCP and other globally accepted food safety frameworks. Oversee annual completion by all suppliers and monitor corrective actions to address any gaps.
  • Regulatory Liaison & Investigations:
    Act as the primary liaison with Emirates Group Legal, Customer Affairs, Insurance, and local regulatory authorities such as Dubai Municipality. Investigate and resolve food safety-related incidents or complaints and prepare supporting documentation for internal audits or inspections.
  • Performance Monitoring & Improvement:
    Analyse supplier audit data and performance trends related to food safety and Halal compliance. Provide actionable recommendations to the catering leadership team to drive continuous improvement in hygiene and compliance standards across the network.
  • Training & Awareness:
    Develop and deliver technical training sessions for relevant teams, covering topics such as the Emirates food safety program, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), pest control, personal hygiene, preventative maintenance, and operational Halal requirements.
  • Ingredient & Label Verification:
    Review, approve, and maintain accurate ingredient declarations within the catering management system. Ensure all Emirates-approved food and beverage products comply with recognised food safety and Halal standards.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all food safety and Halal documentation, including incident reports and corrective actions. Verify that all vendors comply with the service level agreements and Emirates’ food safety and Halal requirements.
  • Product Recall Management:
    Lead the Emirates product recall process and serve as an integral member of the recall team. Conduct regular mock recalls to test the team’s readiness for various scenarios. Maintain an up-to-date recall register and ensure the recall process and documentation are accurate and robust.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline such as Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or Environmental Health.
  • Internationally recognised qualification as a Food Safety and Halal Internal or Lead Auditor from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience conducting internal and external food safety and quality audits.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the Food & Beverage, Food Manufacturing, or Catering industry.
  • Experience with food safety management in a laboratory or industrial food production environment.
  • Previous experience in In-Flight Services or Airline Catering is a strong advantage.
  • Completed advanced-level professional or operational training in food safety or Halal assurance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
