Seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Food Safety and Hygiene Officer to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and food safety within our school catering operations. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring hygiene practices in full compliance with Dubai Municipality guidelines, with a special focus on child nutrition and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain hygiene and sanitation protocols in all food preparation, storage, and serving areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections of kitchen facilities, equipment, and food handling practices to ensure adherence to Dubai Municipality regulations and internal hygiene policies.
  • Establish hygiene standards specific to school catering services, taking into account the dietary and health needs of children.
  • Provide ongoing training and coaching to kitchen and service staff on food safety practices, personal hygiene, and proper food handling procedures.
  • Monitor and verify the proper storage, labeling, temperature control, and handling of food items to prevent contamination.
  • Lead investigations into hygiene-related incidents or complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance audits for internal use and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with kitchen supervisors, nutritionists, and management teams to foster a culture of hygiene excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on changes in local food safety regulations and best practices, especially those related to school food programs and child health.

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role within school catering, institutional food service, or hospitality environments.
  • Thorough understanding of Dubai Municipality food safety standards and HACCP principles.
  • Knowledge of children’s dietary restrictions, allergen management, and nutritional needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to hygiene monitoring and enforcement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective training to diverse teams.
  • Food Safety Certification (e.g., PIC Level 3, HACCP Level 3 or above) is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
