A manufacturing Company in Dubai, UAE is looking for a QC Microbiologist with the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Develop, negotiate, and implement quality control procedures, standards, and specifications for in-house operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety and quality assurance guidelines, working as part of the Food Safety Team.
- Monitor microbiological standards and compliance as per the established sampling plan.
- Sample Collection & Testing:
- Collect and analyze raw material samples upon arrival to determine their suitability for production.
- Conduct microbiological testing of finished products, raw materials, and development/shelf-life samples.
- Perform chemical, physical, and organoleptic analyses of raw materials and finished products.
- Laboratory Preparation & Equipment Maintenance:
- Prepare microbiological media, including weighing, mixing, and autoclaving, for sample analysis.
- Label and prepare samples with appropriate identification in accordance with specific test protocols.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment such as weighing balances and pH meters before daily activities or as required.
- Monitor the temperature of incubators used for microbiological testing to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Hygiene & Sanitation Control:
- Perform microbiological analysis of workers’ hand swabs to ensure compliance with personnel hygiene standards.
- Conduct environmental monitoring, including water analysis, surface swabs, and air testing, to validate the effectiveness of the production process.
- Ensure that all laboratory equipment and materials are cleaned, sterilized, and well-maintained as per laboratory guidelines.

- Food Safety & Audits:
- Assist in conducting internal audits alongside the FSQ (Food Safety & Quality) Head.
- Provide support to the food safety team by analyzing relevant microbiological data for hazard identification and elimination.
- Maintain accurate and detailed traceability records of laboratory activities and test results.
- Continuous Improvement & Documentation:
- Assist in updating laboratory work instructions and procedures to align with industry best practices.
- Support the FSQ Head in developing new testing methodologies and exploring new laboratory technologies for continuous improvement.
- Raise requisitions for laboratory consumables to ensure smooth operations.
Job Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field.
- Industry Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), food manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Hands-on experience in microbiological testing, quality control, and food safety procedures.
- Technical Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of microbiological principles, food safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
- Proficiency in microbial testing techniques, including plating, incubation, and pathogen detection.
- Familiarity with chemical, physical, and organoleptic analysis of raw materials and finished products.
- Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), ISO 22000, and other food safety standards.
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of lab equipment, such as pH meters, weighing balances, and incubators.
- Hygiene & Environmental Monitoring:
- Ability to conduct microbiological analysis of water, air, and surface swabs to verify hygiene standards.
- Experience in performing hand swab tests to ensure personnel hygiene compliance.
- Audit & Compliance:
- Familiarity with internal auditing processes and assisting in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Ability to maintain laboratory traceability records, documentation, and control logs.
- Laboratory & Safety Practices:
- Hands-on experience in preparing microbiological media, weighing, mixing, and autoclaving.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and sterilization procedures.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Ability to interpret test results and identify microbial contamination risks.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot microbiological deviations and support process improvements.
- Software & Reporting:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data recording and reporting.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) is a plus.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an FMCG, food, or beverage industry setting.
- Additional certifications in Food Safety, HACCP, or ISO 22000 would be an advantage.
