Food Technologist – Quality

Food Technologist – Catering in Bahrain – responsible for ensuring food quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across large-scale catering operations. This role focuses on menu development, standardization of recipes, process control, food safety management systems, and continuous improvement of food production practices to meet customer expectations and local regulatory requirements in Bahrain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, standardize, and improve catering recipes, menus, and food production processes to ensure consistent quality and taste.
  • Monitor food preparation, cooking, chilling, holding, and transportation processes to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Implement and maintain Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) including HACCP, GMP, and GHP across the catering facility.
  • Conduct regular hygiene inspections, internal audits, and risk assessments within kitchens, central production units, and storage areas.
  • Ensure compliance with Bahrain food safety regulations, municipal guidelines, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee raw material selection, supplier approval, and quality evaluation of ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and operations teams to optimize food quality, cost control, and efficiency.
  • Handle non-conformances, customer complaints, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support new product development (NPD) and menu innovation for corporate catering, events, airline catering, or institutional clients.
  • Train kitchen and production staff on food safety, hygiene, allergen control, and best manufacturing practices.
  • Ensure proper labeling, shelf-life studies, portion control, and nutritional compliance where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Safety, Catering Technology, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience as a Food Technologist or similar role in catering, hospitality, or large-scale food production.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, GHP, and food hygiene standards.
  • Experience in central kitchens, industrial catering, hotel catering, airline catering, or institutional food services is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bahrain food laws, municipality inspections, and regulatory compliance is an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct internal audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Good communication and training skills for working with kitchen staff and management teams.
  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and food safety records management.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced catering environment with flexible working hours.
