A biotech and nutrition company is looking for a Biotechnologist with the following:

Job Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Operations:
    Perform daily bioprocessing activities in either the Upstream (cell culture, fermentation) or Downstream (filtration, chromatography, purification) areas according to established cGMP procedures. Ensure accurate batch execution and monitor process parameters to maintain product quality and consistency.
  • Process Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
    Evaluate test results, identify deviations or non-conformities, and perform root cause analysis. Resolve technical issues, troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, and provide recommendations for process improvements or corrective actions.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance:
    Support the preparation and execution of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) and Environmental Monitoring (EM) assessments. Participate in operational and cleaning risk evaluations for assigned products and ensure compliance with defined safety and environmental control measures.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate electronic batch records (EBR), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and related manufacturing documents. Review production documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GMP standards.
  • Quality & Compliance:
    Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to manage deviations, change controls, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions). Ensure that all activities meet internal and regulatory quality requirements.
  • Project Participation:
    Actively contribute to capital investment projects, including the design, setup, commissioning, and qualification of new manufacturing suites, systems, and equipment. Provide technical input from a manufacturing perspective to ensure readiness for production operations.
  • Training & Development:
    Conduct training sessions for manufacturing staff on specific process equipment, standard operating procedures, and best practices to ensure operational competence and consistency.

Job Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related life science discipline. Equivalent technical education with biopharmaceutical training will also be considered.
  • Experience & Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of biotechnological processes, including microbial and/or mammalian cell culture, protein expression, and purification techniques.
    • Hands-on experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing under cGMP conditions preferred.
    • Familiarity with bioprocess equipment, automation systems, and process control software is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Languages:
    Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is an asset.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to work in a 4-shift system (including nights and weekends).
    • Basic understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing principles is preferred.
